Heading West
I've just noticed the main section headings at the top of the Guardian website:
    * UK
    * World
    * United States
    ...

yes, the US gets its own section rather than being crammed in with the rest of the 'world'. There's no separate top-level section for Europe.

I wonder if it's because they get a lot of USian readers online, or because nobody has yet managed to get the British interested in Europe.

Although you do notice it's *after* world... kind of like they're only acknowledging it after everyone else!

That is precisely why.

I, who help them with their web analytics, can confirm it.

I never watch the news and only read it online. I use the BBC website and CNN. So I can vouch for British news agencies getting US readers.

The only other news I read is if a local paper is left in the lunchroom and I happen to be eating lunch actually in the lunchroom that day, which is only maybe 20% of the time.
